Over the past several years, the medical schools in Hungary have emerged on the European scene as one of the most popular choices for international students. They make use of the latest interactive technologies and techniques to make studying more interesting and rewarding.

All Hungarian universities require a high school diploma and an English proficiency certificate for non-native speakers. Most of them (excluding the University of Pecs) also require an entry examination. The exams usually test the applicant’s knowledge of Biology and Chemistry. Finally, some universities require an interview with the applicant to determine their eligibility.
In comparison with Western European countries, the tuition fees to study Medicine in Hungary are low. The average fee to study in a Medical programme is around €7250 - €17,700 EUR per year.
Founded in 1769, Semmelweis University in Budapest is the oldest medical school in Hungary with an uninterrupted history. The medical school’s name derives from Ignaz Semmelweis, who discovered the cause of puerperal fever and helped introduce hand disinfection standards in obstetrics clinics.
However, Ignaz Semmelweis is not the only great physician associated with the university. For example, Ferenc Bene administered the first smallpox vaccine, and Janos Bokai contributed greatly to the decline of child mortality from diphtheria.

The University of Pecs is a public university founded in 1912. It is a public institution that hosts more than 20,000 students, around 20% of which are international. It is one of the five universities entitled “Excellent University”, and there is a reason for that.
The university constantly takes part in research projects. Their international standards cannot be left unseen. The school is equipped with the latest medical technology and has a Clinical Centre where students can practise and take clerkships.

Szeged University is a public higher education institution located in Szeged, Hungary. Originally, it was founded in 1872 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, but due to historical obstacles, in 1921, it was moved and restarted in Szeged, Hungary. Nowadays, it is a research university and one of the most important in the country. The university is the most distinguished Hungarian university and also ranks among the top universities in Europe.
Szeged is the third-largest city in Hungary, with a population of over 160,000 inhabitants. The city attracts not only international students willing to study medicine in English but also many tourists willing to explore its history. All around the city, you can see many ancient theatres, monuments, and museums.

Since 1990, McDaniel College Budapest has offered pre-medical programs to help students who require additional instruction or review in the required subjects and in the English language to prepare them to take the entrance examinations for the regular Degree Programs of medical universities.
