About Ilia State University
Ilia State University was founded in 2006 and is a public higher education institution. It is located in Tbilisi and is one of the largest Georgian Universities. Nowadays, the school has 4 faculties, one of which is devoted to the medical and natural sciences. Providing a high level of education is not enough for this university. That’s why it constantly takes part and invests in research in the medical field.
The Faculty of Medicine here offers an English-taught medical programme with a duration of 6 years. Its main goal is to prepare students with the eligible competency and qualifications needed to become successful medical doctors.
The first 2 academic years provide pre-clinical medical knowledge, mostly in theoretical subjects.
Soon after students are prepared enough with theoretical knowledge, they start practicing in simulators. But a doctor must be trained in real-life situations as well - that’s why bedside teaching is also included in the curriculum.
Tbilisi attracts not only visitors but also many international medical students. The city provides a variety of options to study medicine in one of the top European universities. More than 5 medical schools with excellent standards are located here, including the European University in Georgia.
